LACY MURPHY, M.A. / Founder and Curator

​

Lacy is currently a PhD student of art history and holds a BA in French from Truman State University and an MA in Art History and Archaeology from Washington University in Saint Louis. Lacy's major specialization is in late nineteenth and early twentieth century European art and her minor specialization is in American art from 1865-1941. She is currently researching the visual culture of the second French colonial empire. Lacy contributed to the exhibition Degas, Impressionism, and the Paris Millinery Trade (2017) at the Saint Louis Art Museum as a curatorial intern and has also worked alongside curators and artists at The Luminary. Last spring, she curated a solo-exhibition for Illinois-artist Mitchell Oliver called PORK RIND GOES TO TOWN. She is also the co-founder, co-director and co-caretaker of Cherokee Street Project (https://cherokeestproject.wixsite.com/mysite).

MARGARET CROCKER, B.A. / Associate Curator

Margaret is an MA student and received her BA in Art History from Smith College. Her interests include visual culture, feminist art, and immersive art spaces. She has previously worked with the curatorial team at the Milwaukee Art Museum researching photography and light-based installations in the museum's collection.

VICTORIA BARRY, B.A. / Associate Curator

Victoria is a MA student and holds a BA in Art History & English from Tulane University. She specializes in modern & contemporary American art and is interested in the concomitant nature of art and social movements. Most recently her research has explored the relationship between artists and their urban environment, focusing on how artists engage with the public sphere and the importance of artistic production outside the institutional context. She previously published a case study entitled “The ‘Hide/Seek’ Controversy: Federal Arts Funding & Censorship” as well as presented papers on the collective Gran Fury and artist Jenny Holzer. Victoria is currently a curatorial intern at The Luminary and is the co-founder, co-director, and co-caretaker of the Cherokee Street Project (https://cherokeestproject.wixsite.com/mysite).

SARAH BRAVER, B.A. / Associate Curator

Sarah is an MA student researching contemporary art and recently received her BA in Art History from Johns Hopkins University. Her past curatorial projects include “Off the Shelf: Modern & Contemporary Artists’ Books” at the Baltimore Museum of Art, “Conversations with the Carrolls,” a living history exhibition at the Homewood Museum in Baltimore, and a series of pop-up happenings around the Johns Hopkins campus.
